IT Band Injection
TREATMENT INFORMATION
IT Band Injections
IT band injections, also known as iliotibial band injections, are a treatment option for individuals experiencing pain and inflammation along the iliotibial band, a thick band of tissue that runs along the outside of the thigh. These injections typically involve the injection of a steroid medication directly into the inflamed area to reduce pain and swelling.
IT band injections can be effective in managing conditions such as IT band syndrome, bursitis, and tendonitis. Patients may experience temporary discomfort at the injection site, but this usually subsides quickly. It is important to note that IT band injections are just one component of a comprehensive treatment plan that may also include physical therapy, rest, and activity modification.
